What do you remind me of?
My mind swirled with fragments of memories as the first chords of hawthorn and tangerine bewitched my senses. Yes, the hawthorn catapulted me back to a time when my grandmother was taking care of me. In front of her house, a lush cascade of hawthorn blossoms arched over me as I played in the courtyard with the neighborhood children.
The scent of freshly baked cake drifted from my grandmother’s open window unfortunately, I can’t recall the details. It was either a bee sting cake or a torta della nonna. But what I do remember is the feeling of warmth and security.
