Les Bains Guerbois, a beacon of Parisian luxury and cultural innovation, has evolved over nearly 140 years since its inception in 1885 by Auguste Guerbois. Originally a spa that attracted the crème de la crème of the artistic and literary worlds, it was transformed into the legendary nightclub, Les Bains Douches, in 1978. Known as the Studio 54 of Paris, it became a cultural landmark, hosting figures like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol. In 2015, it was reborn as Les Bains Hotel, a 5-star boutique hotel, enriched with a renowned restaurant and cocktail bar.

The brand’s venture into fragrances in 2016 further highlighted its legacy, with the Eaux de Parfum collection earning accolades for its homage to the brand’s storied past. In 2022, the brand launched the Formes & Matières collection, offering a perfume journey that mirrors Les Bains Guerbois’ rich heritage. Today, Les Bains Guerbois stands as a symbol of enduring elegance and continuous innovation, seamlessly integrating its historic grandeur with a forward-looking vision. But whom does the brand have to thank for this renaissance? That would be none other than the visionary Jean-Pierre Marois.

Jean-Pierre Marois

Jean-Pierre Marois is not exactly what we would call a shoo-in for the perfume industry. He is actually more known for his work in the movie industry. Marois was born on July 2, 1963 in Neuilly-sur-Seine and is a producer, photographer and director for films like Mary, Save the Rabbits and Live Virgin. Perhaps surprising to many, but Marois’s father owned Les Bains Douches. When it finally had to close in 2009, Jean-Pierre stepped in 2015 to revive Les Bains Guerbois and breathe new life into it. With the launch of a fragrance line, Les Bains Guerbois almost feels like a lifestyle brand that continues the lustrous history of that spa once owned by Auguste Guerbois.

Vegan & Cruelty Free

As a perfume brand, Les Bains Guerbois knows how to move with the times. As its website explains, their Eaux de Parfum are crafted and manufactured in France, featuring ingredients meticulously selected and blended by their master perfumers in formulas that are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. The denatured alcohol is sourced from France and therefore adheres to stringent sustainable practices. The brand’s packaging is recyclable, enveloped in fully compostable, organically certified cellophane derived from corn. The colour of their formulas is entirely natural, derived from the raw materials used, eschewing the use of dyes, synthetic stabilisers, preservatives, or UV filters.
