Perfume Accords vs Perfume Notes
Perfume notes are the individual scents of a fragrance that result in an overall perfume accord. An individual perfume may be evaluated based on its top, middle and base notes.
The top notes are the scents you smell when you spray the perfume. They tend to evaporate in 5 to 10 minutes. Afterwards, the middle notes appear, which are also known as heart notes’, which tend to last up to 60 minutes. At last, the base notes of the fragrance will appear.

Fragrance Accords & Perfume Concentrations
To fully understand perfume categorisation, it’s important to understand the different concentrations, which are: eau de cologne, eau de toilette, eau de parfum, parfum extrait.
While perfume accords reveal the type of scent of a fragrance, the concentration will tell you how long you can expect the fragrance to last. This can help you choice the right perfume for the right occassion.
For instance, for a 2 hour dinner an eau de cologne will be sufficient, while an eau de parfum or parfum extrait is more suited to last a full day while working at office.

Compared to the main accords, this offers a broader classification of fragrances.
