Should You Buy Expensive Perfumes Or Many Affordable Ones?
Collecting perfumes can be an expensive hobby. For the most of us, our wallet can’t keep up with the ever expanding fragrance shopping list. Thus, a logical question that eventually will pass your mind is: Should I buy a few expensive bottles or many cheapies? In this post, we’ll help you structure your thought process, and make a decision!
1. Buy What You Love
First of all, the number one most important advice is to always buy bottles of fragrances that you love. If you aren’t sure yet, you should get samples first, whether they are cheapies or expensive ones.
At Beautinow, we offer perfume samples for hundreds of niche fragrances.
2. Look for Alternatives
Once you have discovered fragrances you love, you can start checking if there are very similar, lower cost fragrances that you may like or even like more. If you do, then good for you! But if they’re just somewhat similar, and you don’t really like them as much, then go for the original!
Remember, buying many cheapies you don’t use is in fact more expensive than a single great premium bottle!
3. Daily Wear or special occasions?
Another thing you have to keep in mind is whether you’re looking for a fragrance for a special occasion or for daily wear. For the latter, you may want to get more affordable ones, especially if you’re on a tight budget. While for the special occasions, you can get a few more expensive fragrances.
4. Flexibility
If your budget is constrained, you should also ask yourself whether you prefer flexibility to switch between many different fragrances, or whether you’ll always wear the same fragrances. If you’re a person that want to change perfumes frequently depending on the season, time of the day, occasion or even layering fragrances, then it’s probably wise to spend your money on many different kinds affordable fragrances. If you always stick to your guns, investing in an expensive bottle is the way to go!
5. The Stage of Your Fragrance Journey
At last, it’s very important to know at what stage you are of your perfume journey. If you’ve just started out experimenting with fragrances, please be aware that your taste will change. Even if you’ve sampled a lot, tried out many fragrances, and found your signature perfume. You may discover a few weeks/months later, that you don’t enjoy it as much anymore. That’s totally fine.
So in the beginning it’s better to stick to affordable fragrances that you love plus buying samples. Once you feel, your taste is stabilizing, it’s perhaps time to invest in those expensive bottles on your shopping list!
