An independent perfumer from France, Pierre Guillaume has cemented his reputation in the perfume industry. He has his own workshops to create his unique perfumes, and he enjoys absolute artistic and financial freedom to that end. One of the most well-known perfumers in the world, he creates fragrances under the trademarks Pierre Guillaume - Parfumerie Générale and Phaedon Paris. Pierre Guillaume began his perfume journey at the age of 2. He launched his first perfume, Coze, in 2002 to phenomenal success. Handler Burr reviewed the fragrance in the New York Times, stating that a 'young French chemist' had 'concocted Europe's coolest new fragrance.'
The brand aims to offer contemporary perfumes that are wearable in daily life. Taking an inventive, innovative approach to creating perfumes that are poetry in scent form, the brand tries to make itself accessible in terms of pricing. With Guillaume mastering the design process and using an internal manufacturing system, he is able to provide high-quality creations at affordable prices. They focus on sustainability and aim to satisfy every single person who takes a whiff.
Guillaume became fascinated with perfumes and odors very early in life. He comes from a family of chemists, which has allowed him to collect essential oils as well as fragrant materials since he was a child. Nobody could have predicted that he would grow up to a renowned perfumer, but he did not let go of his passion. He was only 25 years old, a budding chemist, when he decided to try and reproduce the aroma of his father’s cigar cellar. The result of his efforts was the 02 Coze, which he made using the Epicene-Gamma base (chili, cloves and nutmeg). As critics began raving about the perfume, he soared to fame. He created his own company in 2010.
