Parfum d'Empire was founded by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato in 2003 with the intention of creating perfumes that would celebrate seduction and spirituality. He respected the age-old traditions of perfumery but wanted to view them through a scientific lens. At a time when niche perfumery was still in its infancy, Parfum d'Empire enchanted many.
Corticchiato created his first blends with aromatherapy in mind, balancing both therapeutic and olfactory needs. After joining a Parisian perfume laboratory, he realized that creating a brand would allow him to express his creativity fully. Thus, Parfum d’Empire came into existence. In his own words:
“With Parfum d´Empire, I wanted to reconnect with the primary meaning of perfume, the one found in all cultures: eroticism and the sacred. Because at all times, seduction and spirituality constitute the deepest meaning of perfume, its original truth. Love conquest, spiritual conquest, self-conquest…perfume is conquest, perfume is exploration."
Corticchiato's perfumes capture fleeting moments of raw emotion through precious blends of natural raw materials known for their refinement, aphrodisiac properties, and sanctity. He unearths the connection between eroticism and spirituality in his fragrances for a unique sensual appeal. Corticchiato revels in his artistic autonomy and never strayed from radical style.
Marc-Antoine Corticchiato’s fragrances can transport one to sensuous, imaginative worlds where they can embark on a journey of self-exploration. As a scientist familiar with the secrets of scent production in aromatic flora, he is able to choose the best raw materials for his creations. His in-depth understanding of different cultures helps him conjure unique formulations that can tug at the heartstrings. To pursue his study of fragrance, Corticchiato took up chemistry and created a new technique to analyze extracts of aromatic plants using carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance for his Ph.D. He also enrolled in École Internationale de Parfumerie de Versailles (ISIPCA) soon after.
