Goutal Perfumes FAQ
Few brands are as closely intertwined with artisanal perfumer as Goutal. This French luxury fragrance brand cares about capturing beauty, from the bottles to the fragrances themselves. Founded by perfumer Annick Goutal in 1981, the brand has consistently offered authentic, sentimental perfumes that are joyful in their own right. Previously known as Annick Goutal, the fragrance house embarked on a new chapter as Goutal Paris in January 2019. Annick Goutal’s daughter Camille Goutal and Isabelle Doyen are now at the helm, and they seek to uphold all the values passed down by the founder.
Goutal Paris fragrances offer fleeting glimpses of the elegant French lifestyle. Each bottle intimately captures Goutal's imagination, inspiration and zeal for adventures. The perfumes tell fragrant and rich stories that balance tradition with modernity. Made with unique and precious ingredients, each perfume is worth its weight in gold. Goutal is committed to an environmental-friendly approach at every stage of perfume development. Annick Goutal's avante-garde style was delicate and radiant, and Camille has managed to carry on with her legacy admirably.
A visionary in her own right, Annick Goutal was always destined for great things. As a child prodigy, she intended to become a pianist when she grew up. She won first prize for piano at the Versailles Conservatory when she was just 16. However, bogged down by the pressure, she abandoned her dream and moved to London. Her classic beauty caught the attention of iconic photographer David Bailey who helped her launch a successful modeling career.
Not quite satisfied with the direction of her life, she embarked on a few entrepreneurial ventures. It was her passion for perfumes that led her to Grasse where she discovered a new passion. She became a perfume creator in 1979, and her creations reflected her sensuality and generosity. Her gift for perfume composition immediately stood out as she opted for personal, avant-garde perfumes, created with precious natural olfactory combinations. Her first creation, L'Eau d'Hadrien, immediately established her as a pioneer in niche perfumery.
