Founded by French-Belgian visionary Dimitri Weber in 2016, Goldfield & Banks is Australia’s foremost niche fragrance brand. After working in several prestigious European perfume houses for over twenty-five years, Weber moved to verdant Australia permanently in 2014. Being ardently in love with his new home’s jewel-toned landscapes and its botanical scenic beauty, he decided to pay a warm tribute by creating a luxurious fragrance collection with rare essences, capturing the gorgeous Australian aesthetic in olfactory snapshots.

Even the name of the brand references the continent reverently. Weber explained in an interview that he named Goldfield & Banks after Australia’s natural wealth, namely its abundant gold reserves and vegetation. Interestingly, he also honors Joseph Banks, Australia’s first botanist and naturalist, through his creations. Inspired by Banks’s discovery of various flora and fauna, the brand combines high-quality raw materials from all over the world with pure essences derived from Australian seeds, resins, leaves, woods, flowers, lichens, and fruits.

Goldfield & Banks wants to showcase authentic native essences from Australia while upholding the French perfume-making legacy. Weber expertly evokes visions of Australia’s “burning deserts, sparkling coastal vistas and deep, beautifully scented forests” through his meticulous creations. His first step is always to find an unusual ingredient that is rarely used in perfumes and get a better understanding of it. Once he becomes intimately familiar with its different facets, he begins his fragrance creation process, which can take up to a year. The perfumes are rich with exceptional depth.
