The story behind ALTAIA, an acronym for “A Long Time Ago In Argentina,” is rooted in two very families encountering each other perchance in 19th-century South America.
The direct descendants of General Bartolomé Mitre, unified Argentina’s first President, and James Morrison, one of Victorian England’s most notable entrepreneurs whose sons made valuable business investments in Argentina, built this perfume brand 140 years down the line after they met in Italy and fell in love.
Marina Sersale and Sebastián Alvarez Murena created Eau d’Italie in 2004, but it was in 2012 that they discovered how their families connected centuries ago and founded ALTAIA as a celebration of their love for perfumery. Harnessing the power of storytelling through perfumes, they ensure that the olfactory elements in their perfumes reflect a loving bond between the past and the present.
